The north of the city is on our doorstep

Tunstall and Goldenhill are twenty minutes from Congleton down the A34, so the northern end of Stoke-on-Trent is as easy for us to reach as most of Cheshire. We cover Tunstall, Burslem, Chell, Chell Heath, Norton, Smallthorne, Packmoor, Goldenhill, Bradeley and across to Newcastle-under-Lyme, Wolstanton and Porthill. Free quotes and the same day rate as everywhere else we work.

Reclaimed land, self-set trees and small gardens

A lot of the north of the city stands on old colliery and pottery land, and the trees that came up on it after reclamation, silver birch, sycamore, willow and alder, have now had thirty or forty years to grow. Along the Biddulph Valley Way, around Westport Lake and on the old Chatterley Whitfield ground they are getting big, and where they back onto gardens they are shading plots, lifting fences and dropping limbs.

In the terraces of Burslem and Tunstall the problem is usually the opposite: one tree in a yard the size of a table, far too big for the space, with no way to fell it and nowhere to drop anything. Those come down in sections, lowered on ropes, piece by piece. It is slow, careful work and it is what we do.

Protected trees in the city

Stoke-on-Trent City Council handles Tree Preservation Orders and conservation areas across the six towns, and Newcastle-under-Lyme Borough Council covers Newcastle, Wolstanton and Porthill. Burslem and Tunstall both have conservation areas around their old town centres. If your tree is protected, consent or six weeks' notice is needed before work starts. We will check for you and deal with the council as part of the quote.
